fees

Fees for Tracy Schaperow, Psy.D. (860-245-1321) and Sam Schaperow, MSMFT, LMFT (860-447-2047) vary depending on the type of service, its length, and the provider. Rates range from $~65*-$~295** for therapy/coaching, and psychological testing (we provide testing for gifted, detailed IQ w/o learning disability eval., and personality testing) ranges from ~$500-$1800.  Insurance only covers mental illnesses, and rarely this testing.   We accept checks, cash, and some of us may accept HSA/credit cards (please inquire prior to coming in if using a credit card).

Tracy Schaperow, Psy.D. and Sam Schaperow, MSMFT, LMFT have successfully removed their contracting with managed care providers (except Dr. Tracy Schaperow is technically on Medicare, but not currently taking any new Medicare cases).  However, we can provide you with a form with all codes filled in so you'll not need to deal with the hassle of filling out insurance forms in order to obtain reimbursement.  However, you may face a deductible before coverage begins.  (Note: She doesn't do autism evaluations).

Tracy Schaperow, Psy.D. and Sam Schaperow, MSMFT, LMFT choose to work very little with managed care insurance companies, ensuring our clients maximum privacy, maintaining small to moderate case-loads (typically 1/2 what other therapists do) allowing the ability to do extensive intersession work, consultations, etc., and to maintain flexibility in treatment planning.

Status of taking cases:

Tracy Schaperow, Psy.D (860-245-1321).: Taking cases if a good fit for therapy.

Even when seeing someone in an insurance network, there are times when mental health is not covered.  If you do see a provider who gets you covered for any of the following by altering the diagnosis for reimbursement purposes, do you really wish to see that kind of therapist?  Ahead is the information quoted from Anthem.com, which covers Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.  Most insurers use this exact same formula:

"MENTAL HEALTH CARE: The term Mental Health Care means services provided to treat a mental

disorder as defined in the most recent edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s “Diagnostic and

Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders”. Mental Health Care does not include (1) mental retardation, (2)

learning disorders, (3) motor skills disorder, (4) communication disorders, (5) caffeine-related disorders,

(6) relational problems, and (7) additional conditions that may be a focus of clinical attention, that are not

otherwise defined as mental disorders in the most recent edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s

“Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders’."

If that is the case, please send the referral my way so I can contact them directly. ")
